11th sign of spring: dew not frost
5/23/10
my backyard
9:50 a.m
I found out awhile ago that it was not frost on the grass but dew. I have had no time to have this as a sign of spring. I knew that that dew would be around until this fall. so I thought that it would be one of my last ones.why does dew form I think that. For dew to form, air must be cooled to its condensation point. If the air does not move then it will form fog. the website I got this from is dew.
this is a sign of spring to me because the the frost has thawed and made it so that the water droplets make beautiful arrangements on everything.the dew just flies about touching everything. making it wet and sparkling. it makes it so that the ground is proven to be warmer then the freezing point. so the ground is warmer than the air is at home. that is why the dew drops are a beautiful work of art and a sign of spring too.

the stages of a lilac
It blooms closer to Mothers day so my moms around the continent of north America can be the first to get and enjoy the fully bloomed lilac. Also one of my favorite flowers is the lilac. she likes this because it smells nice. She also likes the way that they look. they also don't need a lot of maintenance to grow. they can be used to do a verity of things. fom wanting privacy from neighbors to wanting some shade or just looking for something to brighten up your yard

Flowers: how it happens
Evening
28 March 2010
My Backyard
The flower forms by going through many different stages. The flowers start out as stems or branches. Then the flowers start to bud. After the buds form and get bigger they will open up to be flowers. In the pictures above I have shown a timeline of the Forsythia's life from branch to flower. Soon the flowers will be popping up very soon.
The Forsythia bushes are a sign because I think everyone knows that flowers are a beaken that flares when spring is finally here. The best part about the Forsythia bush is that it is the first bush youwill see blooming in the spring. Everywhere you look, you will see big bushes of happy yellow flowers. These blooms will last for about one to two weeks. Once they pass other bushes and tress will bloom and take their place.

Daffodil bulb emerging
My Backyard
Evening
This is a picture of a daffodil that my mom planted last October 2009. They were covered with snow until this little thaw before the snow storms. They went though the winter sleeping like the animals. As you can see above we have not cleaned the garden yet. Some other things are starting to grow in my backyard. We are on the hunt for many signs of spring.
The bulbs went through a dormant stage for the winter. This is when the ground is frozen. Now that the days are longer and the sun is now warmer the bulbs awaken to there active state. Therefore the roots grow and leaves sprout. We will follow this bud until it grows into the flower it is meant to be.
